How much reading is it each day?

About 10 minutes. Each day is whole chapters in Bible order, from Genesis 1 on Fri 1 Jan to Revelation 22 on Fri 31 Dec. The days are balanced by length, not by chapter count, so a day in Leviticus takes about as long as a day in the Psalms.

Times are worked out from the word count of each day in the Berean Standard Bible, at an easy 200 words a minute. That's about 2,000 words a day. You reach the New Testament on Day 279, Wed 6 Oct.

    What if I fall behind?

Almost everyone misses a day at some point. It doesn't undo the days you've read. Here's what helps:

    • Pick up with today's reading. Skip ahead to today and carry on. You're back on track at once.
    • Catch up slowly, if you want to. Read one missed day alongside today's, or a few on a quiet weekend.
    • Don't start over. Finishing a few weeks late still means you read the whole Bible.

In the challenge, everyone reads the same chapters on the same day. So whenever you come back, today's reading puts you right alongside everyone else.

    Read it together in Digible

The plan on this page is yours to keep, with any Bible. From 1 January 2027 you can also read it with everyone else in the Digible app. Digible is the #1 Bible journaling app, and the challenge is free.

    • Everyone reads the same chapters on the same day
    • A short daily study for what you're going through
    • Group codes for your church, small group or friends
    • A card that shares which day you're on, in one tap
    • Free on every device: iPhone, iPad and Android

The plan opens in the Berean Standard Bible (BSB) by default. You can pick another translation in the app.

Read it with your church or small group

Reading the Bible in a year is easier with people beside you. In Digible, one person starts a group for your church, small group or friends and shares its code. Everyone who joins with it reads the same chapters each day.

Some of your group may prefer paper. Print the PDF plan for them. It follows the same days, so everyone stays on the same page.

Want a simple way to talk about what you read? Try one question a week from the SOAP method: what stood out, what it means and how you'll live it.

    How Digible makes it easier

A year of reading is a lot of pages. Here's what Digible gives you along the way:

    • Handwrite, draw and highlight directly on the Scripture page with Apple Pencil on iPad or a stylus (including S Pen) on Android tablets
    • Phones: read, tap a verse to highlight it and keep typed verse notes
    • Reading streaks and gentle daily reminders
    • Sync across iPad, iPhone and Android with one account
    • Paths: personalised multi-day Bible study plans built around a book, theme or season you name, each day with a reflection to journal through

Questions about the Bible in a year plan

How long does it take to read the Bible in a year?

About 10 minutes a day. This plan splits the Bible into 365 days of roughly equal length, read at an easy pace. The shortest day takes about 7 minutes and the longest about 13.

How many chapters a day is it?

The Bible has 1,189 chapters, so it works out at a little over three a day on average. Days with short chapters hold more of them, like Psalms 120 to 134 on one day. Days with long chapters hold fewer. Chapters are never split.

Is this a chronological Bible reading plan?

No. It goes in Bible order, from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22, one whole chapter after another. That makes it easy to follow in any Bible, paper or digital, and you always know where you are.

Which Bible translation should I use?

Any translation works. The reading times are worked out from the Berean Standard Bible, which is what Digible opens the plan in. Most modern translations are close in length, and you can switch to another one in the app.

Can I start the Bible in a year plan late?

Yes. Joining the challenge in Digible is open until 31 January 2027. With the printable plan you can start any day of the year. Begin with that day's reading and keep going.

What if I miss a day?

Skip ahead to today's reading and carry on. Catch up the missed chapters on a quiet day if you want to, but don't stop to make up everything at once. Finishing a few weeks late still means you read the whole Bible.

Can our church or small group do it together?

Yes. In Digible, one person starts a group and shares its code. Everyone who joins with it reads the same chapters each day. You can also print the PDF plan for anyone who would rather read from a paper Bible.

Is the 2027 Bible in a Year Challenge free?

Yes. The printable plan is free, and the challenge in the Digible app is free on iPhone, iPad and Android, daily studies included.

    Day 1 is 1 January 2027

Print the plan, then download Digible so you can read along with everyone from the first day.
