Christian Standard Bible (CSB) on iPad
Streamed
The Christian Standard Bible (CSB) follows what its translators call optimal equivalence: staying as close to the original wording as possible and moving away from it only where English needs it to be clear. The result is a Bible that reads smoothly for daily devotions but holds up for closer study. In Digible you can read the CSB, compare it side by side with another translation on a tablet, and write, highlight and draw on it with Apple Pencil on iPad or a stylus on an Android tablet.
Key Features of the CSB
- Optimal equivalence: literal where it can be, clear where it needs to be
- Smooth enough for daily reading
- Accurate enough for study
- A recent translation, published in 2017
Best For
- One Bible for both devotions and study
- Readers moving on from the NLT or NIV
- Small group study
- Bible journaling with clear, accurate wording
Sample Verse — John 3:16
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

History of the Christian Standard Bible
The CSB was published in 2017 as a full revision of the Holman Christian Standard Bible, which appeared in 2004. More than a hundred scholars from many denominations worked on it, overseen by a translation committee, and Holman Bible Publishers holds the copyright.
